Turn your Drawing into Doodles

Expressing ourselves with color doesn’t have to be limited to crayons and pencils. We can also use 3D drawing to add an extra boost to our artwork. Today, we want to show you some fun ways to combine drawing with crayons and doodling with plastic. We’ll start by drawing something using crayons (or whatever medium your kiddos are comfortable with) and then ask them to bring that drawing to life in 3D using their 3Doodler Start pens!

1 Gather your supplies!

In honor of National Crayon Day, we’d recommend starting with plain white drawing paper and a variety of crayons. Although, you can use pencils, chalk, charcoal, or other drawing materials. Make sure you have your 3Doodler Start Pen and plastic at the ready.

2 Draw something beautiful.

Use your crayons to draw something that inspires you! Think about drawing your favorite person, pet, or place. It’s always easier to draw something you love and you know well.

3 Doodle your drawing.

Use your crayon artwork as a “stencil.” Trace the lines of your design using your 3Doodler Start Pen and plastic to make it come to life. Don’t be afraid to use different colors and lines in your doodle -- the more creative, the better.

4 Peel your Doodle off of your DoodlePad.

Carefully peel your 3D Doodle off of your crayon drawing.

5 Use your imagination to make it bigger!

Use your 3Doodler Start Pen to see if you can add on to your Doodle. Can you make it three-dimensional? Can you include additional 3D details? Think about adding a crazy shirt to a drawing of a person; or a curly tail to a drawing of a pet; or swirling water to a Doodle of the water.
